NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
Here's another pic from my recent photo walk. This was taken from street level. I like the balance of the cab on the left and the pedi-cab on the right, all I needed was a horse drawn carriage in the middle. I really like how the lighting on this one turned out.
After the snow
This was taken early one morning after a fresh snowfall. The stuffed snowman by the door has "Let it snow" on it's front.
Speeding train
I took this one morning while waiting for the sunrise. The sunrise turned out to be more of a cloudy rise, so this ended up being the best pic of the morning. I'm happy how it turned out, especially since I just noticed I caught the green light reflection in the puddle on the ground.

Shell reflection
I had brought along a shell for a recent visit to Jones Beach, planning to take some photos on the sand. This is one of the best shots of the day, especially with that gorgeous reflection.
Jones Beach Tower Sunset
Taken at one of the better sunsets I've been able to observe this winter. This huge flock of geese just rose up and started taking off to the area on the right.
Roxy is just so photogenic
Here's our last cat Roxy trying her best to "smile" for the camera. She really does not like her picture taken, you'd think she was a celebrity or something.
Baby's watching you
This is another of our cats; Baby. We were outside working on the landscape when Baby showed up in the doorway to supervise our work, and to tell me "it's time to feed me" - doesn't she have that look in her eyes?
This photo has been modified in post production to straighten, and crop. No other changes were made.
Squeaky on the bed
One of our cats, Squeaky, was just chillin' on the bed. I loved the contrast of her black fur with the blue walls, wooden headboard, and brown pillows. The stuffed animal wrapped around the back column of the headboard adds that small dash of color that the scene needed.
Garden Frog
Here's a closeup of our Frog that's on the landscaping in front of our house. He's got a nice shine to him, and that's without buffing him up for his photoshoot.

NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
This is one of the last pics taken during the walk. This is a 2.5 second exposure, taken from the southeast corner of 7th & 42nd. I liked how this shot came out, with most of the traffic on 42nd Street just a blur of light, except for this one Jeep Cherokee attempting to turn onto 7th, but stopped by pedestrian traffic, which is also a blur.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
Not your normal Times Square photo. I had switched the camera to manual focus. I was trying to focus on something dark, and I noticed how much Times Square looked like an abstract painting, so I took this cool shot.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
Of course being near Rockefeller Center, I had to take a few shots of the Radio City Music Hall. I liked this perspective the best.
I just now read the marque. I thought this was a music hall? You couldn't pay me to listen to those three sing.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
This photo is a little overwhelming at first. I tried to get the shutter speed just right to capture the movement of the skaters and also the movement of the flags. I hadn't even noticed at the time that the trees in the background were wrapped in lights. This was taken at 1/8 sec, f/5, 24MM, ISO 800.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
This is a seating area along 53rd Street, between Madison and 5th Ave. The place was deserted when I first arrived, but then the couple you can just make out in the mid-right, arrived to eat some sandwiches. The gardner was still at this place, and had just finished planting the tulips in these large planters.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
This pic is also from a window display. PINK had a very bright pastel colored window backdrop, with some mannequins showcasing various dress shirts and ties. I noticed the structure of the hand against the tie, and thought it would make a cool pic. The reflection of a bus' tale lights, on the window (background model) adds some context that this was taken along a street.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
I was walking by a store window when this display of candles caught my eye. The display was probably just made that day, as it didn't look disturbed. I think the contrast between the bright colorful candles and the dark wooden display shelves, is what makes this pic pop. Don't forget, you too can have one of these candles for $6.99.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
This pic is also from Rockefeller Center, across from Saks 5th Avenue. I took a 4 second exposure which made the water show as a smooth stream. The longer exposure allows more light, so it appears brighter, although this pic was taken after sunset.
NYC Photo Walk - 03/27/2009
These next few posts will be comprised of pics I took on a walk from my office to Penn Station this past Friday. The first pic above was taken in Rockefeller Center. I like how it looks as if the statue is holding up the building in this perspective. I also liked how the red light of the building entrance contrasted with the light blue evening sky.

Wedding Flowers
This next pic was also taken with the Sony Cybershot. This is a small flower bouquet that was used as a centerpiece on the Bride & Groom table.

Kenoza Lake
On our way to Maine last summer, we stopped in Haverhill, MA and took a walk along Kenoza Lake. I snapped this photo where there was a clearing in the trees. I couldn't believe how still the water was. The clouds were the very front edge of a torrential rain storm. About two hours later, it was like a monsoon outside.
This was taken with my old Sony Cybershot (circa 2001 - 3.2 megapix).
Submarine Torpedo - WW II
Taken on a cloudy day in Eisenhower Park. I'll have to come back when they have the planters full of flowers. The brass medallion really stands out nicely against the granite and the green torpedo.
Playground
From a local playground early one morning - look "O" won. I liked this scene because of the high contrast of the colors with the brown mulch ground.

Christmas 2008
These three photos are from this past Christmas. The first is of the wreaths that were hanging from our front windows. I love the depth of field (DOF) on this one.
The second pic is a closeup of some ornaments on our Christmas Tree. The boat ornament we picked up in Ogunquit Maine this past summer.
The third pic is of a house in our neighborhood, who's X-Mas lights we really liked. I took this pic right around dusk, so the sky came out a beautiful deep blue.

Welcome Straw Family
This is a pic I took one day while hoping for a great sunset, but no clouds that day, just straight sun. As I turned around to go back in the house, the light just hit this perfectly.
